Methodological Support and the Laboratories

Methodological support functions as a development, tutoring and guidance unit of the research methods in the field of learning and instruction.

Service is directed foremost to the centre’s researchers and doctoral students, but support services are offered to other research units on the basis of a separate contract. The support unit coordinates the development and testing of the research and analysis methods between the centre’s different research projects.

The methodological strengths of the Centre for Learning Research are qualitative and quantitative methods related to longitudinal and intervention research and to network analysis. Through these methods, also systemic studies of multilevel and multimodal processes are possible. The aim of the centre is further to enhance the researchers’ high level mastery of the most advanced statistical analysis methods.

The research laboratories in the Departments of Psychology and of Teacher Education enable manifold experimental studies based on eye movement registration as well as effective analysis of observation data.
