Roger Säljö

Roger Säljö is Professor of Education and Educational Psychology at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. His research interests include learning, development and communication within a sociocultural perspective, in particular the role of technologies (intellectual and physical) in human knowing and cognitive growth.

Professor Säljö is the Director of a national centre of excellence in research funded by the Swedish Research Council (since 2006): Learning, Interaction and Mediated Communication in Contemporary Society (LinCS).  He has been a visiting scholar/professor at many universities including the University of Oslo, Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, Universität Göttingen, Universität Konstanz, the University of California San Diego and he is currently a Finland Distinguished Professor at the University of Turku. He is the member of the editorial board of several international journals and has served as the President of EARLI, the European Association for Research in Learning and Instruction.
